Creating a contemporary home, while retaining the original character of the existing building was a key part of the brief. Bringing light to the home and creating better flow between internal and external spaces was also important.
This was a major renovation on a South facing home on a steep site. It included the addition of the 2 lower levels with a child care facility and 3 bedrooms, a pool, and a glazed garage that opens into a private courtyard to the North of the house. It also included a complete renovation of the upper two levels including opening up the main living areas and connecting them to a new courtyard to the North and new decks to the South. The garage, which is adjacent to the courtyard, has the same stone tiles and timber framed glass sliders so that it can double as an entertaining pavilion when needed.
