Project Type: Residential / Mixed-Use
Location: Auckland, New Zealand
This proposal is for a 600sqm extension to a 200sqm home, which is centred around a new planted courtyard where all four wings intersect, forming a cross shaped plan.
The client required an open plan chapel space, shown at the front of the home - suspended over water, which also connects to his main living areas. He intends to use this as the main place of worship for his church group. The timber screen would incorporate bi-folding shutters to allow them to open and close it as desired.
The existing portion of the home is to be overclad in timber, as shown, to tie in with the contemporary extension.
